Sailing Seas is our flagship authentic Asian foods brand, part of the wider Chen Foods family. Ever since our father founded Chen Foods more than 40 years ago, family has been at the heart of everything we do. We're proudly an Aussie family-owned business with a truly Asian heart, passionate about bringing the best of yum cha – including our famous Sailing Seas dumplings.
While our product range now spans a huge range of specialty ingredients to Asian cuisine, all your favourite Yum Cha treats, high-quality seafood and fish, Asian pantry staples, desserts, and more, our company still pays tribute to Mum and Dad. Their recipes and preparation methods set the standard for everything we do. In fact, they're all part of our family’s commitment to bringing Australians together to enjoy heartfully delicious Asian food and flavours.

Meet Mr Chen
Father. Foodie. Dumpling devotee. When Mr Chen arrived in Australia in 1978 as a refugee from Vietnam, he brought his love of food with him, and a hunger to build a new life. Since he can remember, Mr Chen has been obsessed with good food. One of his fondest memories goes back to when his grandmother gave him a few cents to buy a noodle breakfast the next day. Too excited to sleep, and too young to be allowed out in the morning rush on his own, he lowered a bucket to the noodle carts on the street below, to avoid missing out on his delicious treat. And so, an innovator was born.
When Mr Chen arrived in Australia and wanted an easier name for Australians to pronounce, he even chose Peter as his first name, after the beloved Aussie ice-cream brand. While he may not have learned to speak English until he was 35, his lifelong appetite for learning to cook was insatiable.
Dumplings, however, always had Mr Chen’s heart – and he wanted to share his love for them with all Australians. So, in 1982 he founded the Chen Foods family business, bringing a whole world of authentic Asian flavours and recipes into Australian homes and restaurants every day.

Over the past 40 years the brand has established a strong presence nationally in both grocery as well as foodservice, well-known for her unparalleled yum cha offering, high-quality seafood and fish, specialty ingredients as salted duck egg yolk and many more.

A1 is our iconic Vietnamese brand. Drawn by hand by Mr Chen signifying top quality, it is a staple item in households with a love for Vietnamese food. It was established in 1982 and one of the first Vietnamese brands here in Australia. Its range includes traditional dry goods and pickles for easy home cooking.
The Original Peking Duck Pastry
The Original Peking Duck Pastry is an easy to prep pancake and great for catering and entertaining at home. Iconic for it’s light pastry, it offers a suite of options for sweet or savoury Asian inspired dishes devoured by the whole family. However, most famous for wrapping around Peking Duck.
Nile Foods
Nile Foods is our brand of high-quality African seafood. The brand is well known for its Nile tilapia, which is nutritious white fish used in various Asian dishes like curries in the Phillipines and Vietnam.
Potong
Potong is our delicious range of authentic Asian pops. Expect to be teleported to those hot summer days with the warmth of the Asian sun on your skin. Made to the traditional Malay methods and flavours, the Potong desserts contain the finest ingredients from our coconut milk base to whole pieces of fruit.
